I know my Father has good plans for me. I say that because I believe it, but I also say it because sometimes I need to hear myself say it.

There are seasons when the road feels dry, when everything you try to grow seems to wither in the sun. The waiting stretches out, and the silence from heaven feels louder than the prayers you are sending up. It is easy to trust God in the garden, when the harvest is plentiful and the rivers are flowing. It is much harder to trust Him in the desert.

“The landscape changes. He does not.”

But I have found that God does some of His deepest work in the dry places. When all the distractions are stripped away, you are left with only one thing: His character.

He does not abandon us in the wilderness. He makes a way through it. Sometimes, the barren season is exactly what we need to prepare us for the fruitful one. If we never walked through the desert, we might forget who provided the water.

And when the landscape changes, when He finally leads us back into the garden, we have to remember not to cling too tightly to the blessing itself. The green pastures are beautiful, but they are not the Shepherd. The goal has never been just to reach the garden; the goal has always been to walk with Him, wherever He leads.

Whether we are standing in the desert, walking through a valley of shadow, or resting in a garden, the promise remains the same. He is with us. His presence is the only constant we truly need.

Because He is still my Father.
And I still believe He has good plans for me.
